Now we all know that our beloved book, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. isn't getting a movie anytime soon, because of the rights never being signed to a specific film company.

BUT if there to be a movie, and I magically were to direct it, here's the cast I would choose to use for the movie.
1. Holden- Jacob Lofland

2. Mr. Spencer- Steve Carell
Okay, I know that when you picture Mr. Spencer, you don't see top macho man Carell there; However, we can make Steve Carell look like an old man due to the magic of Hollywood makeup artists. Plus, Mr. Spencer has this sorta sarcastic vibe that I get from watching Micheal on The Office. With his personality and the look of what Holden describes Old Man Spencer as Steve Carell is obviously the BEST choice for it.

Almost everyone in the world knows who this amazing teen actor is, he stars on the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. Matarazzo is really good at playing an unpopular teenage boy. But with him, he also has a lisp in the show Stranger Things, which would give Holden something to hate and complain about even more... perfect!
4. Stradlater- Luke Benward
5.Jane Gallagher- Mackenzie Foy
If you've ever seen The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, then you know that this girl is an amazing actor (even if the Twilight movies are horrible) and she's got an impressive resume for being just nearly an adult. Makenzie would be an amazing Jane due to her innocent look like how Holden describes her and though she's not an actual character that meets with Holden, she'd be good in flashbacks. Plus, she seems like the kind of person who'd keep her kings in the back row in a game of chess.
