The Hobbit is a famous literary piece as well as a prominent movie which accumulated around $1 billion dollars just of the movie and this does not take into the profits made by the novel. This mystical and magical novel is surrounded by adventure, fictional creatures, and diverse character traits that are established through meticulous attention to detail which is illustrated in both the novel and film. Despite these detailed descriptions, there is still room to question the creation of the plot and the true meaning, themes, and main ideas. For example, a very large inquiry was "Who is the real hero?" This requires a thorough examination of the plot and its characters which even then may not be enough to find a true rejoinder to the question of "Who is the real hero?"
A real answer to the question of "Who is the real hero?" will originate in the list of the character and these characters are in their own class. For example, the wizards, the dwarves, or the hobbits may be seen as the heroes of the story but their actions and decisions must be analysed before that conclusion may be drawn. This is also an opinionated response that only the reader can establish for themselves. An unconventional answer to who might be the hero is Gandalf who is a fictional character, one of the protagonists, a wizard, member of the Istari order, and the leader of the Fellowship of The Ring and the army of the west. Gandalf could be the real hero of the Hobbit for multiple reasons which are not made clear throughout the novel but can be observed when the characters are analysed. For example, not much credit is given to Gandalf for organizing such a quest for Bilbo and the thirteen dwarves. This adventure starts with Gandalf and his wits which are used to convince Bilbo to come along for the treacherous journey, get the dwarves to trust Bilbo, and even save a few vital characters here and there. Without Bilbo the story would change drastically and once again, Gandalf is to be thanked for this. The dwarves definitely had doubts about letting the miniature Bilbo Baggins along for the journey but with Gandalf advising them, Bilbo came along. Lastly, Gandalf did save many lives throughout the novel and this can be seen when the main characters were rescued from the hungry trolls. Overall, these are just a few ways Gandalf can be observed as the real hero and more attention should be put on him for all the unaccredited deeds he does within the story.
