What is Love?

What is love? As a noun it is defined as an intense feeling of deep affection. However, people define it in various ways. These ways have changed throughout the course of time. For example, love in marriages used to have women not defy her husbands wishes, but now spouses tell each other their concerns because they love each other and don’t want hatred towards each other. Shakespeare commentates on love saying, “Love all, trust few, do wrong to none”. Also said by Shakespeare, “ In his plays he thinks that love can be unfair, confusing, crazy, unpredictable, and uncontrollable.” Shakespeare was often view as a skeptic of love because of these opinions, and was know for calling love a “tragedy.” This can be interperated as to love all even if they have done bad or good. Love is not bound to only men and women, anything can be loved. Charles Bukowski stated that let what you love kill you, while imterperated it suggests that what you love will kill you and trying to achieve that love will hurt you. Some people don’t believe in love or arent ready to accept it from anyone. Some skeptics beleive that Romeo and Juliet isn’t a real love story and some believe that it is. Love is a phenomenon that people encouraged through marriage, friendship, family etc... but is inerperated diffently by all people.

  1. I like how you explained how love is not only towards men and women, and how you can love pretty much anything. Some people don't think that love can be towards any thing else, and what you said about love really gets you to think about what love is and how others view it differently.
